WessC (Biography)

Michael John Wessner born in Los Angeles, California (also known as WessC) and the Drummer for the Southern California Rock Band Vinyl Candy. Michael is also an Artist, Engineer, Musician, Producer, and Songwriter. I developed my love for music at an early age. At the age of 10 I attended my first rock concert and after that it was all over – music would be the main focus in my life. Growing up my mother had a large collection of R&B/Soul music which inspired my passion for playing drums. She was also very supportive in helping me learn the instrument. It wasn’t until high school that I started listening and playing rock-n-roll/metal, at the same time I continued to study music through my high school jazz and marching bands. As a rock drummer I discovered that my style to be unique in the sense that the groove and timing were always my main focus, Drum fills are placed in the correct part of the song not distract from the overall feel. The focus is playing for the song. I finished college and received a Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering. Over the years I have become an accomplished recording and mixing engineer. Growing up in San Francisco I also found a love for Electronic/House Music which I continue to blend with my unique funk laden grooves with the essence of live instrumentation. This mixture allows me to create a sound all my own on which can be heard on countless tracks for my independent production company, Plastic Jesus Productions.
